About Us
At Making Days Studios we believe that creativity is a gift for everyone and that art really does happen every day!
Making Days Studios is a home-based teaching art studio led by artist and educator, Lori Lusk.
We offer group, private, and semi-private drawing and painting instruction as well as a unique selection of sketchbook courses. We also offer summer camps, seasonal courses, and create custom courses and art experiences for our clients.
A little bit more....
Our home- based studio is passionate about training and connecting our students with the skills and resources they need to create the art they dream of making.
Our semi-private class format focuses strongly on the development of the individual artist AND provides the added benefit of practicing and sharing art in community.
Our small class sizes are designed to allow each artist to develop at their own pace with plenty of individual attention, while simultaneously working along side students that see the same problem from a different angle. To see other artists wrestling with the same problems and solving them in unique ways is an education in its own right.
Our foundational drawing and painting courses are offered year round and organized into "cycles." When you complete one cycle simply enroll for the next available cycle for an uninterrupted experience. Need to take a cycle off to accommodate a vacation or a sports season? No problem! Continue your art journey at your own pace.
We regularly update our schedule with new thematic sketchbook and watercolor classes and sometimes with short-term seasonal and weekend classes.
We also design custom 4-8 week art courses for groups of friends and community members that have groups of 6-12 that want explore art together and learn a new skill. If you have a creative vision or goal- we would love to design a course to help you get there!

Drawing & Painting
All of our courses, camps, and workshops are designed and taught by Lori Lusk. Lori has been an artist as long as she can remember. As a child and teen she spent many hours lost in drawing, designing, sewing, and writing.
Lusk continued her passion for art at Baylor University and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2004. During this time she also studied drawing, painting, and art history in Florence, Italy (2002).
Lori has directed, planned, and taught art classes, lessons, and community based workshops at Art Center Waco (2001-2004), The Pacific School of Music and the Arts (2005), The Lincoln School in Guadalajara, Mexico (2007-2009), and University of Colorado Colorado Springs Saturdays for Gifted and Talented Students (2009-2011).
After stepping away from teaching for a season- to raise and homeschool her own three children- Lusk is excited to continue the work of guiding artists of all ages as they develop their artistic skills and find their unique creative voices.
Her favorite art quote is attributed to Vincent VanGogh, "There is nothing more truly artistic than to love people"
We like to refer to our largest in home studio space as "Fire and Light Studio". This studio has excellent natural light all day long.
We love this nook flooded with morning light for our watercolor classes.
On chilly days we scoot the tables close to the fire and enjoy the cost vibes as we get creative.
If we want art to be a part of our daily lives- we have to get into the habit of making art in the spaces we live in. We have to learn to make art accessible to us as we go about our daily routines.

On nice days we like to open the windows and extend this cozy studio space onto the front porch.
Students may chose to take their studio session on the front porch or take a break from their drawing projects to sketch a seasonal flower or resting bird.
We can be intentional about practicing our art by arranging our physical environment in a way that draws us in and invites us to create. A cozy corner with a stash of sketchbooks and pencils. A rarely used dining room table cleared and waiting for your next project to begin. A bag packed with all your favorites in the car-so you can take a moment to sketch when out and about.
